Introducing The HTC Desire S

In 2010 HTC took the mobile phone world by storm with the release of the original HTC Desire. At the time it was the most advanced Android handset available and it sold in its thousands every single day. In fact the handset was so popular there was a huge stock shortage for a while as customers were waiting upto 8 weeks to recieve their Desire orders.

In 2011, HTC have just announced the long awaited upgrade to the original Desire at the Mobile World Congress in February, The HTC Desire S. So what happens if you take a multi award winning handset like the HTC Desire and make it even better….

HTC Desire S Review

The HTC Desire S is one of the most advanced mobile phones to ever be released. It houses a delicious 3.7 inch display with a stronger, slimmer and lighter design than its predecessor. HTC haven’t stopped there, they have also bumped up the hardware to add a new level of speed and nippiness to the Android experience.

Inspiring Design

HTC have crafted each Desire S handset out of a single piece of aluminum. This extra mile in quality ensures that the Desire S is strong and can deal with rough conditions which is great news if you lead a busy lifestyle! This unique design also makes the handset both lighter and slimmer which ticks all the right boxes for consumers.

Desirable Hardware

The HTC Desire S also features the latest Qualcomm MSM8255 1GHZ processor and a massive 768MB of ram (my first computer had a 90mhz processor and 4MB ram) which will offer a quick and snappy experience as you fly through Android menus and switch between applications. There are also an array of powerful sensors including a geometry sensor, digital compass, proximity sensor and ambient light sensor which help power GPS or augmented reality applications like Layar.

Life in High Definition

The camera on the HTC Desire S is capable of capturing high quality images and videos in a snap. The all in one 5 megapixel HD camera can record 720P video or capture sharp images with its ultra bright LED flash. You can also take advantage of the front facing camera for video calls or checking yourself out in the virtual mirror.

Surf Smarter & Faster

The built in web browser on the HTC Desire S should win an award of its own. Visit a webpage and the browser will dynamically resize the text to fit the screen whether you’re holding it in portrait or landscape. Websites load quickly without lag and you can zoom in with a quick pinch and a flick. The HTC Desire S also features Adobe Flash support so you can play all of your favorite online games, something the iPhone cannot do.

The Android Experience

The handset has been built on Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The latest version of Android includes a number of performance upgrades which will ensure a fast experience while lower battery life. Battery life has been a problem for all Android handsets since its launch and Android 2.3 looks to address that with the Desire S.

Google Android has become the most used mobile platform globally in just a few years, and if you haven’t tried it yet then I suggest you take a look at the tour on the videos tab which will teach you everything you need to know.

The HTC Sense Experience

HTC Sense is a collection of beautiful ideas designed to make the mobile experience as simple and elegant as possible. It allows you to easily have face to face conversations with video calls, instantly load maps with zero data charges or waiting, manage all of your email accounts from one place, stay in touch with your friends across social networks and much much more. The HTC Sense experience is amazing and you won’t be able to use it on a non HTC Android handset.
